Widespread flash flooding is occurring in Carolina Beach on Monday, September 16, as Potential Tropical Cyclone Eight approaches the coast.

Carolina Beach is experiencing significant flash flooding, prompting emergency responders to carry out dozens of rescues as water levels rise quickly. In the video, you can see streets that have become impassable. According to reports from authorities, several homes and businesses are seeing water intrusion.

The WeatherRadar shows heavy rain associated with PTC8 affecting large portions of North Carolina. Given the asymmetry of this system, much of the hazardous weather conditions extend well to the northeast of the center.

Neighboring areas like Boiling Springs Lakes and Oak Island have also declared states of emergency, preparing for more flooding and potential damage. But it’s not just flooding, coastal areas are also facing strong winds, dangerous rip currents, and isolated tornado threats.

Potential Tropical Cyclone 8 is expected to make landfall near Surfside Beach, S.C., on Monday afternoon or early evening, with winds of around 50 mph. While earlier forecasts suggested the system might strengthen into a tropical storm before landfall, this likelihood continues to decrease as the storm moves closer to the coast.
